Columbia, S.C. – Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive announced the 2003 Spring Academic Honor Roll Thursday, and South Carolina landed eight student-athletes on the softball list. This marks the most ever named to the list by a Carolina softball team. Amber Curtis, Jodi Fittro, Kristen Hall, Samantha Jennings, Stacey Johnson, Danielle Quinones, Melissa Sandel and Debralee Troesh were all recognized for their academic achievements.

Of the eight student-athletes, Fittro, a senior criminal justice major, was named to the list for the third time in her career. This marks the first time for the remaining seven to be named to the honor roll. In addition to Fittro, Curtis, Hall and Quinones are criminal justice majors. Johnson is a junior is sport management, Sandel is a junior is experimental psychology, and Jennings is a junior in biology. Troesh is a senior majoring in hotel/restaurant/tourism.

A total of seventy student-athletes were named to the softball roster. Mississippi State led with nine while USC, Ole Miss and Kentucky had eight. Criteria for the SEC Academic Honor Roll are based on the grades from the 2001-02 academic calendar.
