Rick Minter, defensive coordinator/linebackers – Has earned the reputation of being one of the top defensive coaches in college football … Was the head coach at the University of Cincinnati for 10 seasons, where he won more games than any other coach in the history of the school and led the program to four postseason bowl berths … Developed nationally recognized defenses at Notre Dame under Lou Holtz (1992-93) …During his two seasons at Notre Dame, he coached 18 defensive players who went on to play in the NFL
Ron Cooper, defensive backs – Has nine years of head coaching experience … Coached the secondary for Lou Holtz at Notre Dame when the Fighting Irish won back-to-back New Year’s Day Bowl games (1991-92) … At Notre Dame, he coached such defensive back standouts as Jeff Burris, Bobby Taylor, Tom Carter, Rod Smith and Willie Clark – all of whom played in the NFL … While he was the head coach at Louisville, he coached defensive back Sam Madison, who stars for the Miami Dolphins.
Steve Shankweiler, offensive line – Brings 21 years of collegiate coaching experience to Carolina … While he was offensive line coach at East Carolina, the Pirates were the only school in the conference to place an offensive lineman on the all-league first team for five straight seasons (1998-2002) … During his college career, he has coached 14 offensive linemen who have gone on to play in the NFL … Also worked as the offensive coordinator and line coach at Georgia Tech.
Rick Stockstill, receivers – Has demonstrated the ability to develop and coach big-time receivers throughout his 22-year college coaching career … Has recruited 16 players that have been drafted or signed as free agents with the NFL over the last five years … While he was an assistant at Clemson (1989-2002), he helped lead that program to some of their most proficient offensive performances in school history … Is credited with recruiting Clemson’s all-time leading rusher (Raymond Priester), all-time leading passer (Woodrow Dantzler), and all-time leading receiver (Rod Gardner) … While at Clemson, he served in a variety of capacities, working as recruiting coordinator, wide receivers coach, co-offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach … Was offensive coordinator at East Carolina last season.
David Reaves, assistant defensive backs – Was elevated to full-time status after serving two seasons as a graduate assistant … Comes from a football family, as his father, John, was an All-America quarterback at Florida who played in the NFL and later coached in the SEC … As a quarterback at Appalachian State, he led his team to three straight NCAA playoff appearances.
