Columbia, S.C. – The University of South Carolina’s women’s tennis team is set to open up their 2004 campaign tomorrow at 6 P.M. against Davidson at the USC Indoor Tennis Facility. USC is coming off of a 14-11 season last year which included Carolina making it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the SEC Tournament.
The Gamecocks will have a young team as six of the 10 players on the roster are freshmen and sophomore. USC has one senior, and three juniors on the 2004 squad. The 10 players are led by head coach Arlo Elkins, who is a recent inductee of the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame. Coach Elkins and the team will be in action in 21 matches this season, 11 of them are at home. The Gamecocks schedule consist of the 11 SEC schools, and will play Michigan, Maryland, Clemson, Furman, College of Charleston, Harvard, Davidson, Marshall, Winthrop and UT-Chattanooga in non-conference action.
