The University of South Carolina baseball team has been picked to win the SEC Eastern Division, in the preseason SEC baseball coaches poll. Ranked as high as seventh in the nation preseason polls, the Gamecocks will open up the 2004 season on Friday, Feb. 13 vs. Charleston Southern.

Below are the results from the coaches’ vote. Points were compiled on a 6-5-4-3-2-1 basis for each division. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own team. Each coach also voted for one team as an overall conference champion. LSU received 11 of the 12 vote, the most possible for one team. The Gamecocks recevied the other championship vote.

South Carolina has made two consecutive appearances in the College World Series and have won four of the last five SEC Eastern Division titles.
