Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s and women’s divers will compete on Friday and Saturday afternoon at the NCAA Zone B Diving Championships in Athens, Ga. The Gamecock divers will compete on the one-meter and three-meter boards in an effort to earn a spot at the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships take place March, 18-20 in College Station, Texas with the NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships held March 25-27 in Long Island, N.Y.
Seven divers from the men’s and women’s team will compete this weekend including three former All-Americans from the last previous two seasons. Junior diver Andy Bradley was national runner-up and earned All-American honors on both boards last year for South Carolina, junior Lauren King finished seventh on the one-meter board to earn All-American honors last season and junior Holly Hodges was an honorable mention All-American and consolation champion two years for the Gamecocks on the one-meter board. Junior diver Allison Brenan qualified for the NCAA Championships as a freshman and just recently finished second on the one-meter and fourth on the three-meter at the SEC Championships.
Action begins Friday morning with the women’s 1-meter prelims at 10 a.m. The finals for the event are scheduled for 12:15 p.m. The men’s 3-meter competition is set to get underway at 3:30 p.m. Saturday’s slate includes the men’s 1-meter event at 10 a.m. with women’s 3-meter to begin at 3:30 p.m.
Results from the five zone meets across the country will determine the diving participants at this year’s NCAA Championships for both men and women.
