John Strickland, a rising senior center on the University of South Carolina football squad, has been named to the 2004 preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy. The award, named in honor of former Nebraska great Dave Rimington, is presented to the nation’s top center at the conclusion of the season.

Strickland, is the returning starter at center for the Gamecocks. The 6-4, 300-pounder from Bainbridge, Ga., will look to anchor an offensive line that returns four of five starters from last season.

Strickland is one of 36 players mentioned on the preseason list. He is also one of seven centers from the SEC listed.
