Behind Sunday’s final round five-over-par 293 performance, the South Carolina women’s golf team finished 11th in the 32nd annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia. Held at the University of Georgia Golf Course, the Gamecocks shot an overall 916 (+52) at the par 72, 6014 yard 54-hole event held over the weekend. Host Georgia secured the team title with a one-over-par 865. Brittany Long of Duke captured the individual title with a nine-under 207.

Freshman Jenna Pearson led the USC team with a 40th place finish (227, +11) while teammate Adrienne Gautreaux shot a 13-over-par 229 to end up tied for 46th place. Gautreaux, last week’s SEC Golfer of the Week, fired a 69 during the final round to tie her career-low round. Erica Battle tied for 51st place as the Columbia native shot a 230 (+14) over the three rounds. Senior Marci Robinson was 68th with a 233 (+17) while Tiffany Catafygiotu finished 80th with a 237 (+21).

Megan Miller was the high Gamecock for the tournament as the Murrell’s Inlet, South Carolina, native competed as an individual and finished in a tie for 35th place (+10, 226).

The Gamecocks will compete in next weekend’s Bryan National Collegiate Tournament (in Greensboro, NC) to prepare for the April 16-18th SEC Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
