Columbia, SC –

As of Monday afternoon, USC had five of its former football players headed to NFL camps this spring.

Three Gamecocks went in this weekend’s draft. Cornerback Dunta Robinson was a first round selection (#10 pick overall) by the Houston Texans. Robinson becomes USC’s highest draft pick since Sterling Sharpe was chosen #7 in the 1988 draft. Offensive lineman Travelle Wharton was a third round pick by the Carolina Panthers, while defensive back Deandre’ Eiland was chosen in the sixth round by the Minnesota Vikings. Signing free agent contracts were tight end Hart Turner with the Miami Dolphins and linebacker Jeremiah Garrison with the San Diego Chargers.
