Clemson, S.C. – The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 5 seed Clemson on Sunday at the Clemson Regional. The Gamecocks finished the season with a 14-10 mark overall and will return all six single starters for the 2005 season.

Clemson took a 1-0 lead by taking the first two completed double matches on the courts. Richele LeSaldo and Karen Rombouts defeated Miranda Gutierrez and Ayako Suzuki 8-2 at the number three doubles match. Julie Coin and Alix Lacelarie defeated Christyn Lucas and Magda Wojdylo 8-4 to clinch the point and to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles, Clemson would take wins at number four and number six singles to go up 3-0 before Laura Ganzer would win 6-4,6-1 over Alix Lacelarie at number three. Julie Coin would clinch the match for Clemson with a 6-2,6-2 win over Danielle Wiggins at the top singles spot.

The Gamecocks will return nine of their 10 players from the 2004 season and all six of their starters in singles.
