The University of South Carolina women’s tennis team will open Fall tournament play this weekend in Greenville at the Furman Fall Classic. The tournament will start on Friday, September 24 and run through Sunday, September 26. Carolina will be one of eight teams competing in this weekends tournament. The Gamecocks will face players from Clemson, Furman, Iowa, Middle Tennessee, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin. The tournament will be the first of five that Carolina will be competing in this season.

The Gamecocks are returning all six starters from last season’s team including Danielle Wiggins, who currently ranks 25th in the country in the ITA Singles Poll. Last season, USC finished 32nd in the country with a 14-10 record overall and advanced to the second round of the 2004 NCAA Tournament.
