Auburn, Ala. – The University of South Carolina swimming team completed the third and final day of competition at the Auburn Invitational hosted by the Auburn Tigers. The Gamecocks had a solid finish posting good times in the remaining events this evening.

In the men’s 1650 yard freestyle event held earlier in the day, Kevin Cargill posted the second best time of the event with a time of 15:47.41. Following close behind were Tim Farrington (15:50.36) and Dan White (16:04.49). Cargill also had an impressive finish in the 200 yard backstroke (1:53.38). Tamas Bathazi continued his success from last night by finishing in the top three in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 1:50.35. For the second evening in a row, the final relay event for the men proved to be a strong point for South Carolina with a second place finish. The combination of Reid Duff, Bathazi, Colby Mack and White finished with a time of 3:02.94.

On the women’s side, Carly Hensel had a solid outing finishing in the top ten in the 200 yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.18. Mandee Cregar also did well in the event finishing close behind with a time of 2:21.37. Freshman Heather Roffey continued her success in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.36. The women’s 400 yard freestyle relay team of Carolynn McHugh, Haley Skaggs, Kelly Giese, and Alyssa Cady combined for a top three finish in the event with a time of 3:27.96.
