West Lafayette, Ind. – South Carolina senior diver Lauren King scored points for the Gamecocks on day one of the NCAA Championships on the campus of Purdue University. King earned honorable mention All-American honors with an 11th place finish on the one-meter board scoring 277.95 in the prelims. South Carolina is in 26th place after day one with six points.

Competing along with King is junior diver Tracey Richardson, who was 28th on the one-meter with a score of 238.50. Freshman Christy Williams competed in her first event at the NCAA Championships in the 200 individual medley but did not qualify for the finals. Williams finished the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.37.

Day two of the swimming and diving championships continues on Friday with King and Richardson competing on the three-meter board in diving and Williams swimming in the 100 butterfly. King won the three-meter competition at last week’s NCAA Zones competition and Richardson is a former SEC champion on the high board.
