Athens, Ga. – Next up for the South Carolina Gamecock softball team is a three-game series against No. 12 Georgia in Athens April 5-6. USC is 24-14 and 7-5 in SEC play while the Bulldogs are 33-8 and 14-1 in the conference. Tuesday’s doubleheader is scheduled for 5 p.m.

This marks the 23rd meeting between the two teams and the Gamecocks lead the series 20-12. Last year, South Carolina won the series 2-1. The last time USC lost a series to UGA was in 2003.

The Bulldogs are coming off of a 2-1 series win over No. 14 Florida this past weekend where pitcher Michelle Green went 2-0 and Kasi Carroll went 0-1. The loss to Florida marked the first SEC loss of the season for the Bulldogs. UGA currently leads the SEC East while USC is fourth in the division.

The Gamecocks put up solid offensive numbers this past weekend as they swept a doubleheader against the Kentucky Wildcats. Kate Pouliot and Aleca Johnson each recorded a win while Jessica Josker registered eight hits and hit .615.

Kim Wendland leads the Bulldogs with a .429 average and 57 hits and in the circle, Michelle Green is 17-2 with a 0.88 ERA. Meghan Cornett continues to guide the Gamecocks with a .400 batting average, and Melanie Henkes has 10 wins for the Garnet and Black.
