Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina Track and Field will host the USATF South Carolina State Championship at the Weems Baskins Track on Wednesday, April 6th. The meet will be the last home competition of the season. Schools participating in the state meet are Benedict College, Francis Marion University, Morris College, South Carolina State University, The Citadel, Voorhees College and the University of South Carolina.

The meet is scheduled to kickoff at 12:30 p.m. with the field events starting with the men’s hammer. Running events are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. with the women’s 3,000m steeplechase. The championship meet will conclude with the men’s 4x400m relay at 9:05 pm. A complete meet schedule is available below.

The Gamecocks are coming off an impressive performance at Georgia Tech on April 2 that totaled four titles, over ten top-five finishes and several NCAA regional qualifying times between the men’s and women’s teams. The Gamecocks will be looking to add to their NCAA qualifiers on Wednesday in preparation for the 2005 NCAA East Regional meet in New York, N.Y. scheduled for May 27-28.

Following Wednesday’s meet, the Gamecocks will be on the road to Knoxville, Tenn. for the Gatorade Classic at the University of Tennessee scheduled for April 8-9. SEC’s Tennessee, South Carolina and Kentucky will take on the Big 10’s Minnesota, Wisconsin and Penn State in two-day competiton.
