April 11, 2005

The USC football team scrimmaged Monday afternoon under blue skies at the USC practice field. USC will hold its last practice on Wednesday prior to the Spring Game on Saturday, April 16 (1 pm kickoff, free admission and parking).

Coach Spurrier commented on practice afterwards

“I hope the weather is like this on Saturday (for the spring game). I look forward to seeing how our team will compete in front of a big crowd. Hopefully we’ll get a big crowd who will enjoy some fellowship and those who will love Carolina will count our blessings. We will try our best to get our players competing and look to put on a decent show for our fans. We’d appreciate a good crowd to help us get ready and hope they’ll all come out.

“Antonio Heffner has made tremendous improvement. He knows now more where to throw it. We’ve had a fairly healthy spring. We are glad to have Cory Boyd for the last week of the season. He is making strides. Offensively we have some work to do. We are not as sound as we need to be on the line, we are still giving up too many sacks. It’s a combination of the first, second and third teams – they aren’t executing their assignments.”
