The South Carolina Gamecocks went through a two hour practice Monday night on the Bluff Road practice fields. The team was dressed in full pads for the evening workout. Head coach Steve Spurrier addressed the media following the workout.

“The defense looked quick tonight. We had trouble getting the pass off in our team session so we resorted to running about every play. I told them they weren’t going to sack us again. That’s good for the defense, bad for the offense tonight. We’ll run, run, run if we can’t throw it very well and we didn’t throw it very well tonight. Sometimes the defense has something to do with that.”

“We’re struggling a little bit at the guard position. Freddy Saint-Preux needs to come around and be a player for us we hope.”

“I think we’re fast, we have a fast defense. Sometimes I worry we don’t have enough size up front, but Matt Raysor has come on nicely. Maybe we will be big enough. We don’t have great depth along either line.”

The team will return to the practice fields on Tuesday from 9-11:15 a.m. That practice is open to the public. Tuesday night’s practice (7:30-9:30 p.m.) is closed to both the media and the public.

INJURY REPORT: Eric Stroman (left elbow) and Seth Edwards (ill) were the only new additions to the injured list.
