Chapel Hill, N.C. – The South Carolina women’s golf team fired a 15-over-par 303 during Saturday’s second round at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational played at the UNC Finley Golf Course, with every player on the team improving her score from Friday’s first-round total. Through two rounds, the Gamecocks’ 325-303=628 puts them in a tie for 16th with SEC rival Tennessee.

Through two rounds, junior Jenna Pearson leads the way for the Gamecocks, sitting in a tie for 37th on the individual leader board with a score of 79-75=154. After a solid performance Saturday in which she fired a two-over 74, senior Erica Battle is now in a tie for 43rd with a two-day score of 81-74=155.

Senior Laura McCaslin is tied for 46th on the individual leader board with an 80-76=156. McCaslin notched two birdies during Saturday’s second round. Tied with McCaslin through two rounds with an 81-75=156 is sophomore Blythe Worley. Playing as an individual with her score not counting toward the team’s total, Worley was steady Saturday, achieving par on 15 of her 18 holes.

Sophomore Camila Mori improved eight strokes from Friday’s first round to fire a six-over-par 78 Saturday, with teammate Whitney Simons rounding out the Gamecock effort with an eight-over-par 80.

The third and final round of the tournament will be played tomorrow.
