Columbia, S.C. – Several members of the South Carolina women’s team head on the road this weekend for the two-day SMU Women’s Classic beginning on Friday evening at the Perkins Natatorium in Dallas, Texas. The competition will begin both days at 7:30 p.m. CT. The USC team will be represented by eight swimmers and one diver. Amanda Dunnigan, Kelly Giese, Carly Hensel, Kassy Kugler, Heather Roffey, Haley Skaggs, Lindsey Tiberio and Christy Williams will swim for USC with Tracey Richardsom competing in the diving portion. This is the third consecutive year that Carolina has competed in the SMU Women’s Classic. Also competing at the invitational will be Florida, SMU, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin.
“We’ve got a good mix of both newcomers and returnees going and it should be a huge barometer for our team with us going up against some of the top teams in the nation,” said USC head coach Don Gibb. “It’s a fun meet with good, quality competition in a great environment. The record book at their pool reads like the Who’s Who in swimming and diving. Every team has an equal roster with each team having one swimmer in an “A” heat and one in a “B” heat for all the events, so it’s winner take all.”
