Columbia, S.C. –
The Toyota Gamecock Village will be open from 11:30 am until 3:00 pm before the home game against Vanderbilt University this Saturday. Located in the Grandstand at the Fairgrounds, the Village is free and open to the public. Game time is 3:30 pm.

The Gamecock Village will feature a number of special events this week:

-Toyota Legends of the Game: Former Gamecock football players Allen Mitchell and Mark Fryer will be appearing to sign autographs from approximately 1:00-2:00 pm.

Mitchell was one of the quarterbacks of the 1984 “Black Magic” team, lettering for Carolina from 1983-85. His 2,201 career passing yards rank him 14th on the USC career passing leaders list. Fryer played offensive tackle for the Gamecocks from 1986-89 and was a three-year starter. He was named second-team freshman All-America by Football News in 1986 and earned first-team Academic All-America honors in 1987 and 1988.

-The USC Marching Band and cheerleaders will perform at 1:30 pm inside the Gamecock Village.

-Carolina’s 2005 National Champion equestrian team will be appearing to greet fans and sign autographs from approximately 1:00-2:00 pm. The Gamecock volleyball team will also appear from 2:00-2:45pm.

-Come shoot some hoops with the Colonial Center staff and you could win Carolina basketball tickets! The first exhibition game is November 10th.

-The Colonial Kids Corner features three large inflatable games for kids.

-The cast of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” will appear from 12:30-2:00pm. The musical will be playing at Edventure Children’s Museum in early November. Come to Gamecock Village to meet Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang!

-Jewelry Warehouse will have Carolina gear available for purchase and will feature a “Buy One Get One Free” Gamecock t-shirt promotion.
