HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The South Carolina Garnet team finished in second place, just one stroke behind host Coker College, at the Coker College Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Hartsville Country Club in Hartsville, S.C. Freshman Baker Elmore finished four-under par and placed second to lead Carolina.

South Carolina fired matches Monday’s team score of 295 to finish with a stroke total of 590. Coker College earned the title with a 589.

Elmore followed Monday’s 69 with a 71 and was edged by Chris Nicol of Reinhardt for medalist honors. Nicol shot 67 on the final 18 to holes and finished at 139.

Sophomore Warren Thomas shot even par 72 and placed in a tie for fourth. Redshirt freshman Patrick Cunning was the third Gamecock to make the top 10, finishing seventh after a final round 75.

Senior Robert Svensson carded a 77 Monday and finished tied for 24th, while redshirt sophomore David Kite shot 78 and tied for 27th.
