By virtue of scoring both of his team’s touchdowns in a huge victory for the program, South Carolina freshman wide receiver Sidney Rice is the Rivals.com National Freshman of the Week.

Rice continually worked his way open against Tennessee and had eight receptions for 112 yards in the Gamecocks’ historic 16-15 victory. He helped South Carolina win for the first time in Knoxville.

Rice is the second consecutive SEC player to win the Rivals.com National Freshman of the Week honors and the third this season, joining Arkansas running back Darren McFadden, last week’s winner, and Alabama guard Antoine Caldwell.
