University of South Carolina defensive tackle Chris Tucker has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week for his efforts in the Gamecocks’ 30-22 win over Florida on Saturday.

Tucker, a 6-1, 288-pound senior from Decatur, Ga., accounted for two solo tackles, one for a 10-yard sack, and an interception in Carolina’s first win over the Gators since 1939. His interception of a Chris Leak pass and 48-yard return to the UF five-yard line set up USC’s first touchdown of the game. His sack came in the fourth quarter, helping the Gamecocks hold off a late Florida charge.

Tucker and the Gamecocks will be in action again Saturday when they host in-state rival Clemson in a 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
