The South Carolina football squad continued preparations for Saturday’s 7 p.m. matchup against Clemson with a workout at the Bluff Road practice fields on Thursday. The Gamecocks are healthy for the most part entering the season’s final regular season game. Twenty-five players will make their final appearance at Williams-Brice Stadium. Following Thursday’s practice, Gamecock Head Coach Steve Spurrier addressed the media:

“A little more nippy tonight, isn’t it? Actually if it’s like this Saturday night it would be perfect football weather – because that’s the weather we’re playing in. This isn’t cold.

“We had a normal week of practice. Hopefully we’ll play our best one. We’ll need to to beat these guys.

“(Ike Crofoot) is somewhat available. He told me he could hold and snap, but we’ll check tomorrow. If not, our backup guys are ready to go.

“(Freddy) Saint-Preux is coming back at left guard. We’re bringing him back. He’s a senior.

“We’re still trying to play our best one of the year. Hopefully it will happen Saturday night. Clemson’s a good team, a very good team.

“Ricardo Hurley’s had a good week of practice. He’s a senior and we’re going to start him at linebacker. We thought Ricardo ought to start his last home game here.”
