COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams return to SEC competition Saturday, when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats in a dual meet at 1 p.m. in Lexington, Ky. This meet will be the final road competition for the Gamecocks until the SEC Championships, Feb. 15-18.

“This will be a good test for us,” said head coach Don Gibb. “We are pretty evenly matched on the women’s side and Kentucky edged us out at the SEC Championships last year. We have a strong freshmen class so it will be good to see what we can do here. On the men’s side, UK has guys that can score at NCAA’s so this will be a good gauge for us. It will be good for us to battle it out at their place.”

This will also be a homecoming for diver Lyndsey Havens, who hails from Lexington and graduated from Lexington Catholic. In her last outing against N.C. State, she placed third on both the one-meter and three-meter boards, scoring season high marks.

USC returns home on Jan. 28 for a tri-meet against Alabama and Georgia. That meet time has been changed to 12:30 p.m. The 2006 seniors will also be recognized at that meet.
