Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina freshman RHP Mike Cisco is the SEC Pitcher of the Week following his performance last Friday night (April 14) in Carolina’s 1-0 win over Ole Miss. The freshman right-hander pitched eight scoreless innings to help lift Carolina to a victory in the series opener vs. the Rebels. He did not allow a walk and limited Ole Miss to three hits while striking out eight batters.

The eight innings pitched by Cisco marked the longest stint by a Gamecock pitcher this year. Cisco is 5-0 with a 2.56 ERA and 39 strikeouts to just nine walks in 45.2 innings pitched. Four of Cisco’s five wins have come against SEC opponents. Cisco is the second Gamecock pitcher this year to earn SEC Pitcher of the Week honors. Sophomore RHP Andrew Cruse earned the honor in March.

Carolina returns to action on Wednesday night (April 19) hosting The Citadel at 7 pm at Sarge Frye Field.
