2006-07 Men’s Golf Schedule

The South Carolina men’s golf team’s 2006-07 season schedule has been finalized. The Gamecocks will play in four events this fall and at least five during the spring.

Carolina opens its slate this weekend at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rocky Face, Ga., before attempting to defend its 2005 title at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, Oct. 14-15, in Jonesborogh, Tenn. One week later, the Gamecocks will make the trek to Orlando to compete in the Isleworth-UCF Invitational, Oct. 22-24. The Gamecocks wrap up their fall slate with a trip to the West Coast, Nov. 6-7, to play in the Corde Valle Intercollegiate in San Martin, Calif.

South Carolina kicks off its spring schedule in the UNF Collegiate Championship, played at Sawgrass Country Club, Feb. 18-20. USC is scheduled to play in the Schenkel E-Z Go Invitational in Statesboro, Ga., March 17-18. The Gamecocks hit the links at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw, S.C., March 26-28, for the third annual Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate. Carolina will also compete in the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ohio, April 14-15, and the SEC Championship, April 20-22, in Sea Island, Ga.

Head coach Puggy Blackmon, now in his 12th season at South Carolina, returns eight golfers from last year’s roster and welcomes four freshmen to USC. All-SEC performer Florian Fritsch, 2005 All-American Mark Anderson, redshirt sophomore Patrick Cunning, sophomore Baker Elmore, redshirt junior David Kite, sophomore Allen Koon, sophomore Mark Silvers and junior Warren Thomas are all back. Freshmen George Bryan IV, Patrick Rada, Bryan Miller and Paul Woodbury have joined the team.
