SAN MARTIN, Calif. – The University of South Carolina men’s golf team finished in a tie for 14th among the 17-team field at the CordeValle Collegiate in San Martin, Calif., on Tuesday at the Par-72, 7,199-yard CordeValle Country Club. Redshirt sophomore Patrick Cunning posted his first career top-25 finish to lead the Gamecocks.
Cunning fired rounds of 70-73-72=215 and finished one-under par and tied for 25th individually. Sophomore Florian Fritsch was the Gamecocks’ second-best finisher in a tie for 43rd. Fritsch carded a total score of 70-72-76=218 (+2) in the tournament.
Freshman George Bryan IV posted rounds of 68-76-77=221 (+5) to finish tied for 60th on the individual leader board. Junior Mark Anderson shared 68th place with a total score of 76-71-77=224 (+8). Junior Warren Thomas capped the tournament with his best round, a one-under par 71 (-1). Thomas tied for 78th with rounds of 78-76-71=225 (+9).
The Gamecocks concluded the fall portion of their schedule and will open the spring slate Feb, 18-20 at the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
