University of South Carolina quarterback Blake Mitchell has been selected as the Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 18, it was announced today.

Mitchell, a junior from LaGrange, Ga. had a record-setting day in leading the Gamecocks to a 52-7 win over Middle Tennessee. He completed 21-of-28 passes for a career-high 388 yards and a career-high four touchdowns with no interceptions. Two of Mitchell’s scoring passes went to Sidney Rice for 37 and 27 yards. He connected with Andy Boyd for a 15-yard TD reception and to Cory Boyd for another 19-yard scoring strike.

South Carolina scored on eight of its 10 offensive possessions, including seven touchdowns and did not punt in the contest.

In his last three games, Mitchell has completed 60-of-82 passes for 876 yards with six touchdowns and one interception.

Mitchell becomes the fourth Carolina player to be honored by the SEC this season, joining Ryan Succop, Sidney Rice and Casper Brinkley.
