COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -Tre Kelley scored 20 points and Brandon Wallace added 17 points and 11 rebounds to help South Carolina hang on for an 80-73 win over Jacksonville on Friday night.

Kelley scored 11 of the Gamecocks’ 14 unanswered points late in the first half as South Carolina (9-2) took a 39-25 lead at the break.

The Gamecocks led 74-56 with 6:38 to go when Kelley injured his left knee.

South Carolina wouldn’t score for nearly the next six minutes, and the Dolphins (4-8) were down just 76-70 with a minute to go.

But Bryce Sheldon and Dominique Archie combined for four straight free throws and Jacksonville’s only other points came on a 3-pointer by Jesse Kimbrough at the buzzer.

Kelley was being evaluated by the trainers after the game and no other information about his injury was released.

Archie added 12 points and Sheldon and Dwayne Day each had 10 points as South Carolina used just eight players.

Kimbrough led Jacksonville with 15 points, while Ben Smith and Evan Jefferson each had 12 points.
