Columbia, S.C. – Eight Gamecock swimmers participated in the Bulldog Invitational today in Athens, Ga., the meet was the team’s last opportunity to improve their times prior the NCAA Championships. The men’s co-captains, Junior Kurt Muller and Junior Kyle Cormier, both took advantage of the opportunity and improved their times.
Muller finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.47, which just meets the NCAA B-standard time of 48.50. Cormier improved his time in the 200 freestyle. He won the event with a time of 1:37.69, an NCAA B-standard time.
Juniors Dan White and Christian Robledo also finished in the top five in the 200 free, but did not improve upon their season top times. Freshman Dominique Lendjel and Junior Leopoldo Andara went one-two in the 200 IM, but also did not improve their times. On the women’s side, sophomores Amanda Dunnigan and Sharntelle McLean competed in the 400 IM and 50 free, respectively, neither beat their season best time.
The Bulldog Invitational, and the Gamecock’s quest to get more swimmers qualified for the NCAA Championships, will conclude Sunday.
