Cisco was solid on the mound for the Gamecocks allowing just two hits and walking only one batter to pick up his second win of the year. He is 2-0 this season. He totaled eight strikeouts including five straight in the last two innings pitched. The Gamecock pitching staff finished with 12 on the evening with junior closer Wynn Pelzer striking out all three batters he faced in the ninth inning.

The Gamecocks would add three more runs in fourth inning with designated hitter Drew Martin doubling in a run and Travis Jones and Reese Havens also collecting RBIs. That lead would increase to 5-0 in the fifth inning with Lonnie Chisenhall tallying an RBI single to score Cheyne Hurst. Brown starter Rob Wilcox, a Columbia, S.C. native, would leave the game after 4.2 innings of work. He allowed five runs on eight hits and is now 0-1 on the year.

The Gamecocks would score four more times in the seventh inning with Justin Smoak leading the way with a three-run homer, his fifth of the season and second in as many days. Drew Martin would also get his second double of the game and score on Andrew Crisp’s RBI base hit.

Brown made its way on to the scoreboard in the eighth inning with a pair of runs off of Gamecock reliever Nick Godwin. RBI hits from Devin Thomas and Jeff Dietz would plate Steve Daniels and J.J. Eno. Carolina would bounce back in the bottom half of the eighth inning though with two more runs as Smoak drew a bases loaded walk that was followed up by a RBI single from Kyle Enders, his first career hit in a Gamecock uniform.

The 14-hit total for Carolina included a career-high three hits from Martin as well as a 3-for-4 performance from catcher Phil Disher. Chisenhall also tallied two hits on the afternoon for the Gamecocks.
