Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina picked up a 5-2 win over NC State Friday in opening day play at the Columbia Regional of the NCAA Softball Championship. Jacqueline Wetherbee knocked a three-run home run out of the park in the second inning to set the tone and Melissa Hendon threw a complete game to lift the Gamecocks to victory.

The Gamecocks face Oregon tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the winners bracket.
