Four Gamecock track and field student-athletes have been named to the ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-American All-District team with senior pole vaulter Dan McKenzie headlining the group by picking up first team Academic All-American All-District honors. In addition, Anthony Faulkner and Rebecca Chain have been named to the SEC Good Works team.

The following are South Carolina’s Academic All-American All-District honorees for District 3:

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community in superior service efforts and Carolina’s Anthony Faulkner and Rebecca Chain both received this honor. The following are mini-bios on each.

Anthony Faulkner, South Carolina

Faulkner is a middle school motivational speaker, and has volunteered at the Back to School Bash. He also volunteers with EdVenture Children’s Museum Special Events and at the Harvest Hope Food Bank. He has been a member of the Dean’s List in Fall 2004, Spring 2005, Spring 2006, Fall 2006 and the SEC Honor Roll for 2004-2005 and 2005-2006.

Rebecca Chain, South Carolina

Chain volunteered on race day at the Midlands Crop Walk Against Hunger race. She also volunteers in the classroom at A.C. Moore Elementary School and at the Harvest Hope Food Bank. She also volunteered at the New Brookland Lion’s Club Fundraiser 5k/10k Road Race. Chain has been a member of the President’s List in Fall 2004, Spring 2005 and Fall 2006, as well as a member of the Dean’s List in Fall 2005 and Spring 2006. She was on the SEC Honor Roll for the 2004-05 and 2005-06 school year’s and is an officer with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
