COLUMBIA, S.C. – The season opener for the South Carolina women’s soccer team against North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been changed to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, to avoid conflict with North Carolina’s football season opener.
The Gamecocks and Tar Heels were originally scheduled to open the season at Fetzer Field at 7 p.m., one hour after the start of North Carolina’s football home opener. The game marks the second meeting in the series between the two teams. The Gamecocks are coming off a 2006 campaign where they advanced to the second round of the SEC Tournament and went undefeated at home. The Tar Heels are the defending NCAA champions.
