SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – South Carolina women’s golfer Blythe Worley and partner Laura Crawford carded a five-under 67 Wednesday to win their second consecutive Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball Championship with a 66-67=133 (-11). The duo also won the championship in 2006 after setting a tournament record with a 129 (-15).

Worley (Greenville, N.C.) and Crawford, a senior at Wake Forest, led the field by six strokes to coast to the victory despite the weather at Mid Pines Inn and Golf Club. Temperatures reached well over the 100-degree mark throughout the day.

“I guess we played well together,” said Worley. “When one of us had a bad hole, the other would pick up the slack and save the team. We really enjoyed playing and it was an honor to play in (the championship).”

The Carolinas Women’s Four-Ball Championship is open to women from North and South Carolina and is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association Championship.

Worley, a three-time NGCA All-American Scholar, recently participated in the 2007 Women’s East Amateur Championship, held in June at the Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia. She finished 15th in the 80-person field with a 76-72-76=244 (+8). Worley tied for 36th at the NCAA East Regional Championship and placed 10th at the SEC Championships with a career-best 220 (+4) to help lead the Gamecocks to a fourth place finish.
