The University of South Carolina Gamecocks slipped nine spots in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches’ polls, announced today. The Gamecocks check in at 15th in the A.P. poll and 17th in the USA Today/Coaches’ poll. In addition, the Gamecocks are ranked 16th in the country in the second edition of the BCS Standings, 10 spots lower than they were in the initial poll released last Sunday.

The Gamecocks are 6-2 on the season, 3-2 in the Southeastern Conference, following a 17-6 loss to Vanderbilt on Saturday. However, with three conference games remaining (at Tennessee, at Arkansas and vs. Florida), the Gamecocks still control their own destiny for their first-ever SEC Eastern Division title.

The Gamecocks will travel to Knoxville this weekend to take on SEC rival Tennessee (4-3, 2-2 SEC) on Saturday, Oct. 27. Game time is set for 7:45 p.m. at Neyland Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN with Mike Patrick providing the play-by-play, Todd Blackledge handling the color commentary and Holly Rowe on the sidelines.
