COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP)Zam Fredrick scored 26 points and added eight assists and seven rebounds to help South Carolina beat Radford 90-63 Wednesday night and give coach Dave Odom his 400th career victory.

The Gamecocks (8-5) had been letting their opponents hang around. But South Carolina went on a 19-5 run midway through the first half to take a 24-15 lead and never trailed again.

Devan Downey added 23 points, while Dominique Archie scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds for the Gamecocks.

Martell McDuffy led the Highlanders (4-10) with 19 points while Kenny Thomas and Joey Lynch-Flohr added 17 points each.

Odom reached the 400-win mark in his 22nd season. He has coached at East Carolina, Wake Forest and South Carolina, where he is 122-91 in seven seasons.

The Gamecocks led by eight at halftime,but Radford cut its deficit to 44-40 on McDuffey’s 3-pointer with 18:27 left.

South Carolina would score seven straight points to go up 51-40 on Downey’s 3-pointer with 17:23 left.

Three 3-pointers — two by Kenny Thomas — pulled the Highlanders within 54-49 on McDuffy’s trey with 14:36 left. But Radford never got closer as the Gamecocks scored nine straight points to go up 66-51 with 9:46 left on Downey’s steal and layup.

South Carolina’s Evka Baniulis started in place of guard Brandis Raley-Ross, who is out for at least two weeks with a sprained left knee. He scored five points and had five rebounds
