COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams are set to entertain non-conference foe Florida State on Friday in a dual meet at the Carolina Natatorium beginning at 5 p.m. The Seminole men enter weekend action ranked No. 25 in the latest CollegeSwimming.com Top 25 Poll, while the FSU women are No. 20. Carolina is not ranked in the poll. In the all-time series between the two schools, the Gamecock men hold a slight 8-7 advantage, while the Florida State women lead the series, 2-3-1.

In their most recent competition, both the Carolina men’s and women’s teams captured victories over Davidson and Duke in a tri-meet held at Davidson on Jan. 12. The Carolina women won seven events, including a sweep in the diving competitions by freshman Taryn Zack. The Gamecock men secured five first-place finishes, sweeping the relay events with top finishes in the 400 freestyle and IM races. Additionally, sophomore Nick Walkotten broke a pool record in the 200-butterfly event, finishing first with a mark of 1:50.68, nearly two seconds faster than the previous record of 1:52.15.

Florida State most recently defeated Florida A&M, Florida International and Florida Gulf Coast, also on Jan. 12. The FSU divers paced both teams in victories over their intra-state rivals.
