BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – University of South Carolina diver David Ovelson has been named the SEC Diver of the Week, the announcement came from the league office on Tuesday. Ovelson swept both the one- and three-meter diving competitions against Florida State last weekend, defeating the defending national champion on the one-meter board. This is Ovelson’s first diver of the week award.

Ovelson has steadily improved throughout the season and swept the diving events against his toughest opponent yet this year against Florida State. Defeating the defending NCAA champion in the one-meter, Ovelson continued his momentum in the three-meter event, pacing the Gamecocks with his second first-place finish of the day. His 1-meter score ranks him third in the SEC and his 3-meter score of 375.75 ranks him fifth.

South Carolina continues SEC action this weekend, hosting Georgia and Alabama at the Carolina Natatorium on Saturday at Noon.
