NCAA Zone ‘B’ Diving Central

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s and women’s divers will travel to the campus of Auburn University to compete in the NCAA Zone `B’ Diving Championship at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center, March 14-16. Head diving coach Todd Sherritt will take freshman divers Allison Barr and Taryn Zack and juniors Corry Christian and David Ovelson to the three-day event.

There are five zone meets around the country, each with a specific number of bids to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. From the Zone B Championships, 10 men and 12 women will advance. The women’s NCAA Championships will be held March 20-22 in Columbus, Ohio while the men’s championships will be held March 27-29 in Federal Way, Wash.

Competition begins on Friday with the women’s one-meter and men’s three-meter events beginning at 1 p.m. ET. The men and women will dive simultaneously in all events except the platform competitions. Each diver competes in a six-dive preliminary round, and the top 18 advance to finals, which begin immediately following prelims. The score for those 18 divers that advance to the final round will be a combination of their six-dive prelim total and six-dive final tally.

The men will compete in the one-meter event on Saturday, with the women’s three-meter event also taking place on day two beginning at 1 p.m. ET. Platform diving for the women begins at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, with the men’s following at 2 p.m.
