BATON ROUGE, La. – South Carolina women’s golf held its 10th place position through two rounds of the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic, matching its first-round score with a 306 on Saturday as well. Heading into the final round Sunday, the Gamecocks are six strokes behind Central Florida in ninth place. Sophomore Bénédicte Toumpsin also matched her first-round score with a 73 (+1) to hold onto sixth place.

Starting on the 10th hole, Toumpsin carded a pair of bogeys in the first three holes before leveling off the rest of the back nine. A birdie on No. 1 pulled her back to +1 for the round, and she played even the rest of the round.

Senior Blythe Worley holds a share of 46th place, adding a second-round 79 (+7) to her 76 Friday. The par 4s proved to be her undoing as she played those 10 holes at six-over. In 54th place, senior Whitney Simons also posted a 79 (+7) Saturday after a 77 in the first round. Like Worley, she struggled on the par 4s, although she snuck a birdie in among her six bogeys and one double-bogey on those 10 holes.

Sophomore Taylor Barrett is in 72nd place after rallying back from Friday’s 85 to shoot 75 (+3) on Saturday. After a pair of bogeys on her first four holes, Barrett rallied back with a pair of birdies on No. 15 and 17. A double bogey on the 18th had her making the turn at +2, and she played her final nine at +1. Senior Camila Mori is in 76th place, carding an 82 (+10) Saturday after scoring 80 in the first round Friday.

Overall, Florida State retained its first-round lead with a 294 today. The Seminoles have a 12-shot lead on Alabama and 13 strokes on host LSU and Wake Forest. FSU’s Caroline Westrup followed up her first-round 73 with a 68 on Saturday but could not shake North Carolina’s Lauren Doughtie as the two are tied for the individual lead.

Play concludes on Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
