COLUMBIA, S.C. — Juniors Gira Schofield and Natasa Vuckovic and sophomore Ana Marija Zubori from the South Carolina women’s tennis team were named to the All-SEC Second Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Schofield, who earned second-team honors in 2006 and was a first-teamer in 2007, is the Gamecocks’ No. 1 singles player with a national ranking of 45th in singles. Earlier this spring, she achieved a career-high ranking of 23rd and she is 21-13 overall this season. Schofield posted a 5-5 mark in SEC matches at the top position and she went 10-8 overall in dual matches. She is also ranked No. 34 in the nation in doubles with Zubori.

Vuckovic snagged second-team honors for the third year in a row after going 24-9 in singles and leading the team in dual match wins with a 14-5 record. She is one of just seven players in school history to post three consecutive seasons with 20 or more victories in singles play. Vuckovic enters Thursday’s SEC Tournament having won six in a row at the third singles slot and eight of her last nine. In league matches this year, Vuckovic went 8-2 at three singles.

Zubori made the all-conference squad for the second time in as many years after picking up second-team accolades as a freshman. She has held a national ranking in singles play all season, ascending as high as No. 56 and she is currently No. 85. Zubori earned a 7-3 record at No. 2 singles in SEC matches and she was 11-5 overall at the position. She is second on the team in dual match triumphs with a 13-6 record.
