Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson has earned Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball. The Gamecock right-hander posted an 8-0 record for the Gamecocks with a 4.09 ERA in 50.2 innings. Dyson made nine starts out of 12 appearances for Carolina and struck out 44 batters. His eight-win total led Carolina for the 2008 season.

Dyson’s 8-0 record ties him for the third best-undefeated single-season record in Gamecock history. Only Randy Martz’ 14-0 mark in 1977 and Tim Lewis’ 11-0 campaign in 1975 were ahead of Dyson’s. Dyson tied Ray Lavigne’s 8-0 mark from 1975.
