COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina hurdler Jason Richardson has been named the Verizon Wireless Athlete of the Week as announced Saturday by College Sports Television (CSTV).
Richardson recently competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore., before a hamstring injury took him out of the 110-meter hurdles race. He next competes for Team USA from July 18-20 at the North American Central American Caribbean (NACAC) Under 23 Track & Field Championships in Toluca, Mexico.
A six-time All-American, Richardson enjoyed his strongest season in 2008 when he went undefeated in the outdoor season. Richardson enjoyed an outdoors hat trick in the 110-meter hurdles, winning the SEC, NCAA East Regional and the NCAA Championships. After twice earning the bronze medal, the national championship is the first for Richardson.
