COLUMBIA – South Carolina sophomore diver Taryn Zack added another accolade to her ever-growing list Tuesday as she was named the Southeastern Conference’s Female Diver of the Week after her performance against North Carolina last Friday.

Zack, who was already named South Carolina’s AgSouth Athlete of the Week, received the initial weekly honor from the SEC office after taking first place in both the one- and three-meter events against the Tar Heels. In the process, she set NCAA Zone qualifying marks in both events, scoring a 284.17 in the one-meter competition and a 314.10 in the three-meter event. It marked the second time Zack earned weekly honors from the conference.

The sophomore from Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada, was an All-American as a freshman last season. Other SEC honorees for the first awards of the season were Laurabeth Guenther, Florida (female swimmer); Shara Stafford, Florida (female freshman), Matt Targett, Auburn (male swimmer), Anthony Lewark, Florida (male diver and male freshman).

South Carolina continues a three-week homestand Friday as the Virginia Cavaliers visit the Carolina Natatorium for a 2 p.m. dual meet.
