COLUMBIA, S.C. – Members of the South Carolina Track and Field team will run with Tommy Neeson tomorrow morning when the Ronald McDonald Four Million Steps Run for Compassion stops in Columbia, S.C.

On August 27th, Tommy Neeson departed from the Ronald McDonald House in Bangor, Maine, and will run over 2300 miles to the Ronald McDonald House in Miami, Fla. Four Million Steps, the number of steps taken on this journey, is aimed at raising not only money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities but awareness as well. Nesson will stop off at different Ronald McDonald Houses to visit and support families affected by cancer and to coordinate runs with local runners in an effort to increase local involvement and support for The Ronald McDonald House.

“The Ronald Mc Donald House is a great support system and does so many things for families in our community,” South Carolina Cross Country Coach Stan Rosenthal said. “Our team is honored to have the opportunity to come out and support Tommy Neesen as he runs through Columbia. Neesen is doing an extraordinary thing and we are glad to come out and run a few miles with him and show our support.”

In 2007, Nesson raised thousands of dollars for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Norfolk, Va., with a world-record setting 50k treadmill run.

Columbia, S.C. is the 50th stop on Four Million Steps tour and starts at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Columbia at 2955 Colonial Drive with a stopping point at 272 Main Street S in Wagener, S.C. The 75-day run will end on November 22, 2008 in Miami.
