Bert Sorin (1996-99) began his Gamecock career as a walk-on before eventually winning an SEC Indoor title in the 35lb weight and collecting four All-American honors. A Dutch Fork High School graduate, Sorin scored at the SEC level each of his four years both indoors and outdoors, eventually setting an SEC record with his winning throw of 72’1. Currently a world-ranked Highland Games athlete, Sorin was a US Junior National team member and twice competed at the US Olympic Trials (2000, 2004).
