- Game Captains: #21 Emanuel Cook, #40 Eric Norwood, #47 Patrick DiMarco, #53 Marvin Sapp
- Tonight’s attendance: 90,646. This marks the 16th-largest crowd to ever witness a South Carolina football game.
- Head Coach Steve Spurrier is now 170-60-2 (.733) in his 19-year collegiate coaching career. He is 105-33 (.761) in his career against the SEC, and 1-3 against Florida. South Carolina is now 0-12 all-time against Florida in games played in Gainesville.
- Today’s game marked Spurrier’s 75th game as a head coach at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. The loss gives Spurrier a 68-7 mark while patrolling the sidelines at The Swamp, but winless (0-2) as the visiting head coach. The 50-point margin of defeat was the largest of Spurrier’s collegiate coaching career, surpassing a 42-point loss to Tennessee on Oct. 13, 1990, in his first season as head coach at Florida.
- Florida’s 56 points marks the most allowed by the Gamecocks since a 63-17 loss to Clemson on Nov. 22, 2003. The margin of defeat (50 points) was the largest since a 56-point loss (63-7) to Florida on Nov. 11, 1995.
- Florida scored 28 points off South Carolina’s four turnovers in today’s game. Coming into the contest, the Gamecocks had only allowed 27 points from turnovers the entire season.
- Today also marked the first time this season that South Carolina lost a game in which it trailed at halftime. The Gamecocks trailed at the half against Ole Miss and Kentucky but rallied for victory in those two SEC contests.
- Kenny McKinley moved up three spots in the SEC’s all-time receptions category with six catches on the day. He now stands tied for seventh all-time in the SEC with 194 catches in his career along with Alabama’s DJ Hall and Kentucky’s Anthony White. McKinley also had 37 receiving yards, bringing his career total to 2,637.
- McKinley also extended his school-record streak of consecutive games with at least one reception to 41 games. That is the sixth-longest streak in the country and the best in the SEC.
- Norwood had two sacks in the game, bringing his career total to 22.0. He has had seven in the last three games (two today, three against Arkansas and two vs. Tennessee). He entered the game as the SEC’s leader in sacks.
- Ryan Succop was 2-for-2 in field goal attempts in today’s game, bringing his season total to 19-for-28. He has now successfully kicked a field goal in eight straight games and in 10 of 11 this season.
- Percy Harvin’s 80-yard run on the first play of the third quarter was the longest play from scrimmage South Carolina has allowed this season.
