COLUMBIA – South Carolina sophomore diver Taryn Zack continues to pile up the awards as she was named Southeastern Conference Diver of the Week for the third time this season, the SEC office announced Tuesday.

The sophomore from Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada, once again swept the women’s diving competition over the weekend, taking first place in both the one- and three-meter springboard events. She scored 317.40 in the one-meter finals to lead a pack of three Gamecock divers in the top three spots, then picked up another win in the three-meter finals with a 339.75, winning by more than 45 points. Zack has won all but one diving event in which she has competed so far this year.

Zack earned the SEC’s weekly award Oct. 20 after her performance against North Carolina, then again Nov. 1 following the Gamecocks’ dual meet with rival Clemson. Teammate Helen Alvey took the honor following her performance against Virginia in South Carolina’s second meet of the season, as did Corry Christian on the men’s side. In fact, at least one Gamecock diver has been named SEC Diver of the Week following every event held at the Carolina Natatorium this season.

Zack and the rest of her Carolina diving teammates return to action next weekend as they travel to the Ohio State Invitational. That event runs Dec. 4-6, concurrent with a select group of Gamecock swimmers heading to the U.S. Short Course Nationals in Atlanta.
