COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head coach Curtis Frye and assistant coach Jackie Madison traveled to Reno, Nevada, last week as the state of South Carolina’s delegates at the 30th United States Track & Field (USATF) Annual Meeting.

As delegates at the meeting, Frye and Madison held the responsibility of helping to select the new president for the USATF. Through two rounds of voting, Stephanie Hightower was elected to a four-year term as president of the organization.

“I whole-heartedly support the election of Stephanie Hightower as the USATF president,” Frye said. “I had the pleasure of working with her when we were both on the women’s staff at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, and her work ethic and dedication are unrivaled. She is an amazing advocate for USA track and field and I am excited to see the progression of the USATF the next four years under her leadership.”

Hightower is the current Women’s Track & Field Committee Chair and she succeeds Bill Roe. At the 2004 Olympic Games, she served as the USA women’s team manager while Frye was an assistant coach for the women’s team. With responsibilities for sprints and relays, Frye helped lead Team USA three medals in those events.
